The New Renaissance

How do we compare with our ancestors from up to 500 years ago? How has expression of faith through the choral art changed? In their concert, entitled "The New Renaissance," Meistersingers will take us on a journey across centuries and continents. Using some of the most famous and beloved of sacred texts, they will pair settings from as early as the 15th century with those written just a few years ago. In fact, Meistersingers will be performing a world premier composition from their third annual competition - this time featuring a California composer! Glorious polyphony from hundreds of years ago has come full circle in a "new renaissance" of writing for the human voice - the differences and similarities will astound you! Don't miss this breathtaking example of how these beautiful texts have spoken to our most brilliant musical minds.
All concerts are given free of charge.
